Sculpture is rad. I entered the class without any experience with metal, and now I have poured Iron, Bronze, Aluminum, and cast things in wax and plaster. The diorama has the most eclectic group of materials, but all of the below explore combinations of materials. The transitions on some are rough, but for the most part, I believe they accurately represent some of the skills I gained over the semester. DIORAMA (based on illustration SEE HERE) The mouse is cast in Bronze, and weighs about a pound. The rest is cast in either plaster, wax, or paper, and painted with acrylic paint. IN THE ROUND: Chalice Digitalis This is three abstract forms cast in iron. I made them empty, and on the other side I filled them with castings of my fingers from my right hand; cast in plaster and painted in grotesque fleshy tones, they provide a surprise when the first view is meant to be the convex side of the forms. WALL PIECE: ALUMINUM ROUNDS This is aluminum made to look like iron, and out of the uniform rounds springs paper-castings tinged with light purple.
